This variety meets the national standards for rice variety approval and has been officially approved. It is suitable for Sichuan Province Pingba hilly rice-growing region, Guizhou Province ( Wuling Mountain Area Except for), Yunnan Province the low- and mid-altitude indica rice-growing regions, Chongqing Municipality (Except for the Wuling Mountain Area) areas below 800 meters in elevation, Shaanxi Province of the southern rice-growing region Rice blast This variety is suitable for single-crop medium-season rice cultivation in low-risk areas, but should not be planted in areas where blast disease frequently recurs. The total growth period is 152.0 days, plant height is 122.3 cm, panicle length is 25.5 cm, with 127,000 effective panicles per mu; the 1,000-grain weight is 26.1 g, and the grain quality meets the Grade II standard of the agricultural industry. In 2020, the rice produced from this variety won the Silver Award at the Second “Seed Cup” High-Quality Rice Appraisal Competition. In 2024, Xingwen County Spot checks of the crop seed market show a germination rate of 92% and a moisture content of 11.6%. Genetically modified Passes inspection. This variety has been included in Guizhou Province. Anshun City 、 Zhenning County and Shibing County The leading agricultural varieties for 2025, and in Fucheng District Xianjiaba Village A 100-mu demonstration plot for ultra-high-yield research has achieved the targeted yield of 700 kg per mu. 2024 Jiangkou County Dewang Township Scaled-up cultivation achieves an average yield of 1,000 jin per mu. Yutang Township The yield, converted to dry weight, was 645 kg per mu.
Characteristics: A indica-type three-line hybrid rice variety. When grown as a single-season mid-season rice in the upper Yangtze River region, its total growth period is 152.0 days, 1.4 days longer than the control variety F You 498. Plant height is 122.3 cm, panicle length is 25.5 cm, with 127,000 effective panicles per mu; each panicle bears 256.0 grains, with a seed-setting rate of 81.6% and a 1,000-grain weight of 26.1 g. Resistance: the comprehensive blast disease index over two years was 4.1 and 6.0, respectively; panicle blast damage reached the highest level of 7; brown planthopper resistance was rated at level 9; heat tolerance during heading was rated at level 5, and cold tolerance at level 5. The variety is susceptible to blast, highly susceptible to brown planthopper, exhibits moderate heat tolerance at heading, and medium cold tolerance. Key rice quality parameters: milled rice recovery rate 67.7%, chalky grain rate 9%, degree of chalkiness 2.7%, amylose content 16%, gel consistency 60 mm, and length-to-width ratio 3.0, meeting the Grade II standard stipulated in the agricultural industry’s “Quality Standards for Edible Rice Varieties.”
Yield Performance: In 2016, the variety was included in the regional trial for the late-maturing medium-grain indica rice group in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, achieving an average yield of 647.25 kg per mu, a 3.12% increase over the control variety F You 498. In the follow-up trial in 2017, the average yield was 609.42 kg per mu, representing a 3.61% increase over F You 498. Over the two-year regional trial period, the average yield was 628.34 kg per mu, a 3.37% increase compared with the control. In the 2018 production trial, the average yield was 613.00 kg per mu, a 4.96% increase over the control F You 498.
Key cultivation techniques: 1. Cultivate robust seedlings with multiple tillers. When growing a single-season medium-duration rice crop in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, sow early at the appropriate time according to local ecological conditions, using 1.0–1.2 kg of seed per mu in the main field and 7–8 kg per mu in the nursery. Always soak the seeds in strong chlorine-based disinfectant, sow sparsely and evenly, strengthen fertilizer and water management during the seedling stage, and effectively control brown planthoppers. 2. Transplant early at the right time to promote tillering. For paddy-raised seedlings, transplant when they have six leaves, with a seedling age of 30–35 days; for dry-bedded seedlings, transplant when they have 3.5–4 leaves, with a seedling age of 18–22 days. Ensure proper planting density, with a plant-to-plant and row-to-row spacing of 20 cm × 30 cm, planting three rice seedlings per hill, for a total of 70,000–90,000 basic seedlings per mu. 3. Implement moderate fertilizer and water management, reducing nitrogen application while increasing phosphorus and potassium. Apply a heavy base fertilizer: apply per mu High-concentration compound fertilizer Apply 25–30 kg of urea or 35–40 kg of conventional compound fertilizer; apply tillering fertilizer early: 5–7 days after transplanting, apply 5–7 kg of urea per mu; 20–22 days after transplanting, apply 8–10 kg of potassium chloride per mu. For panicle and grain-filling fertilizer, increase potassium application: during the mid-podding stage, apply 12–15 kg of potassium chloride per mu to promote larger panicles with more grains and stronger seed setting; strictly limit nitrogen fertilizer application in the mid-to-late stages. 4. Manage water and control pests and diseases scientifically. Maintain a shallow water layer for green-up; use shallow and moist conditions for tillering; expose the field to dry conditions once seedlings are sufficient; keep shallow water during the booting and heading stages; alternate between wet and dry conditions during grain filling; drain the field 6–8 days before harvest. 5. Control pests and diseases promptly. Based on pest and disease forecasts, apply pesticides in a timely manner to manage stem borers, brown planthoppers, sheath blight, false smut, blast, and other pests and diseases.
Applicable range: This variety meets the national standards for rice variety approval and has been officially approved. It is suitable for single-season medium-duration rice cultivation in the paddy fields of the plain and hilly regions of Sichuan Province, Guizhou Province (excluding the Wuling Mountain area), the low- and mid-altitude indica rice-growing areas of Yunnan Province, the areas of Chongqing Municipality (excluding the Wuling Mountain area) at elevations below 800 meters, and the rice-growing regions in southern Shaanxi Province where blast disease occurs at low incidence. Planting is not recommended in areas with severe blast disease outbreaks.
