A two-line hybrid indica rice variety. When grown as a single-season mid-season rice in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, its total growth period is 132.4 days, which is 0.0 days later than the control variety Fengliangyou No. 4. Plant height is 116.2 cm, panicle length is 27.3 cm, with 164,000 effective panicles per mu; each panicle bears 223.1 grains, with a seed-setting rate of 80.9% and a 1,000-grain weight of 21.7 g. Resistance: the comprehensive blast disease index over two years was 4.8 and 3.0, respectively; the panicle-neck blast damage rating reached the highest level of 5; bacterial leaf blight was rated at level 7; and brown planthopper resistance was rated at level 9. The variety shows moderate susceptibility to blast, susceptibility to bacterial leaf blight, and high susceptibility to brown planthopper. Key grain quality parameters include: brown rice yield of 78.6%, milled rice yield of 66.7%, grain length of 6.8 mm, length-to-width ratio of 3.7, chalkiness of 3.0%, translucency of grade 2, alkali digestion value of grade 6.5, gel consistency of 61 mm, and amylose content of 16.2%, meeting the Grade 2 standard stipulated in the agricultural industry standard “Quality of Edible Rice Varieties” (NY/T 593–2021).
product details
Variety Name: He Liangyou Aoxiangsi
Approval Number: National Rice Approval No. 20232029
Breeding Institution: Hunan Aopulon Technology Co., Ltd.
Variety Origin: He 19S × Ao Xiang Si
Characteristics: A indica-type two-line hybrid rice variety. When grown as a single-season medium-duration rice in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, its total growth period is 132.4 days, which is 0.0 days later than the control Fengliangyou No. The variety exhibits moderate susceptibility to blast, susceptibility to bacterial leaf blight, and high susceptibility to brown planthopper. Key grain quality parameters include: brown-rice yield of 78.6%, milled-rice yield of 66.7%, grain length of 6.8 mm, length-to-width ratio of 3.7, chalkiness of 3.0%, translucency of grade 2, alkali-labile starch value of grade 6.5, gel consistency of 61 mm, and amylose content of 16.2%, meeting the Grade II standard stipulated in the agricultural industry standard “Quality of Edible Rice Varieties” (NY/T 593–2021).
Yield Performance: In 2021, the variety was included in the regional trial for the late-maturing medium-grain indica rice group in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, achieving an average yield of 659.1 kg per mu, a 6.0% increase over the control. In the follow-up trial in 2022, the average yield was 654.4 kg per mu, up 3.1% from the control. Over the two-year regional trial period, the average yield was 656.8 kg per mu, representing a 4.5% increase over the control. In the 2022 production trial, the average yield was 631.5 kg per mu, a 3.0% increase over the control.
Key cultivation techniques: In the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, a single-season medium-duration rice crop is typically sown from mid-April to late April, with a seeding rate of 8.0 kg per mu in the nursery bed and a transplanting seed rate of 1.2–1.5 kg per mu in the main field. Transplanting is carried out when the seedlings have about 5.5 leaves, with the nursery age kept within 30 days. The planting spacing is 20.0 cm × 30.0 cm, ensuring at least 80,000 tillers per mu. Fertilization should be applied scientifically, with precise seeding to produce robust seedlings, timely early transplanting to promote tillering, and increased potassium application combined with nitrogen reduction. Other field management, cultivation, and harvesting practices should follow the standard methods for this variety type. Special attention should be paid to the prevention and control of diseases and pests such as sheath blight, blast, false smut, brown planthopper, and stem borer.
